The Fern mitts comes with a story of a trip to a Botanical Garden. Walking about, I noticed the bold, graphic qualities of the fern leaves and decided that I had to try capturing that in a Mitts. The result is Fern mitts. It all starts with soft garter stitch interrupted by straight lines. The lines turn into fern leaves. Fern is worked in the round bottom-up and assumes you are comfortable with circular needle. The Fern mitts – autumn and spring mitts. This is not a very warm mitts. IMPORTANT! This is a DIGITAL PDF FILE, not a finished item. Languages: English, Russian. Beginning and intermediate crocheting skill level. The PDF file includes: – List of necessary materials and supplies – Row by row text instructions to fit sizes (hand circumference): 1.6,7-7 in – size 6 2. 7,5 in – size 7 3. 7,9 in – size 8 – Graphic charts – Pictures of the knitting process and the ready-made item. – Tips useful for knitting this (and other) items. Yarn: 1 skein of Genmou by Daruma* (100 % merino wool), 151 m per 50 g. *If you are going to work with different yarn, I recommend to use foreyarn or any other slight twist yarn. If your yarn features medium or hard twist, choose for a thinner yarn than indicated in the pattern. Tools: Two pairs of 3 mm circular needle (80 or 100 cm) to cast on. 4 mm circular needle (80 or 100 cm) or 4 mm double-pointed needles to work in rounds. This pattern is available to purchase separately, or as part of the Fern collection https://www.etsy.com/listing/865572773/knitted-hat-pattern-pdf-knitt-hat-the?ref=shop_home_active_7 My biggest gratitude for your interest in my pattern! A joy to knit – especially in Tosh Vintage. But they work up great and look super in a bargain yarn as well. Cables and SKYP stitches with rib and shaping on the palm side make these my yummiest Mitts yet! They are so stretchy and cozy, I hate to give them away. But my friend in Maine would really like them, so… I guess I will have to make another pair for me! The Design “As pretty as they are practical. And the perfect gift.” This one-skein pattern, designed for our 2008 LYS Tour, became a fast favorite. Wear them when knitting outdoors on a chilly day. Or layer them over your fine leather gloves when the temperature drops. Live in a temperate zone? Choose a cooler yarn and they’re all about style. See how we’ve used this pattern! *******PDF PATTERN for Owl fingerless Mitts******** This is a lovely pattern – it is warm, thanks to the chunky/bulky yarn, and quick to knit up. The instructions are written line by line and are in English with British/American terms throughout. SKILL LEVEL – Easy/intermediate. You need to be able to knit with a steady tension/gauge, and know the following; – cast/bind on and off, knit and purl, knit 2 together, increase into a stitch by knitting into the front and back of it, make one stitch by knitting picking up the thread between stitches and knitting into the back of it, and very easy cable – even if you have never cabled before, this cable is dead easy but you will need a cable needle! Knit flat on 2 needles and sewn up the side. SIZES – 2-4yrs, 5-8yrs (shown in last 2 photos), 9-12yrs, adult and large adult. All measurements are on the pattern so you can choose the nearest size.
