Almost a Granny Triangle Scarf Crochet Pattern. Instant digital download. UK Terminology. Whilst browsing through my collection of scarf patterns I noticed that I really favoured the simplicity of cosy granny stripe ones. I really wanted one! The problem is that I live in Queensland and it’s far too warm most of the year to wear a scarf like that so I came up with a modified granny stitch – the Almost a Granny stitch, which has the same look but with less bulk – and I made myself a cosy looking scarf from a soft cotton yarn that I can wear from autumn through to spring. You can wear it as a scarf, or as a shawl across your shoulders to keep the chill off on a cooler evening. This pattern is a great portable project and easily adjustable to any yarn as you crochet from the centre of the triangle out and simply stop when you run our of yarn or reach your desired size. With its simple geometric shape and easy pattern repeat, this pattern is perfect for trying with different colours, yarns and hook sizes for different effects and there are 2 different edging options included. 3 examples are shown at the end of the pattern for inspiration. Level: Beginner The pattern uses basic stitches suitable for beginners and has a soothing rhythm even an experienced crocheter will enjoy. You’ll need (to make example scarf): Approx. 540m (590yards) 8ply (DK) yarn. I used Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply cotton in Snow, Glacier and French Navy. 4.5mm hook Finished size: 172cm along long edge and 72cm from centre to centre point not including fringe for example scarf. Included in this 12 page PDF pattern: 18 tutorial photos 12 other photos UK English crochet terms used throughout. Centre top out construction so you can stop when it gets to your desired size. 4 partial graphs for help with stitch pattern repeats and placement. Clear concise written instructions with a layout designed to make it easy to follow and not lose your place. 2 edging options with full instructions. Text only printable page so you can print the pattern on just 1 page reducing paper usage. Landscape layout that looks good on a laptop, tablet or phone (simply zoom in on half the page on your smart phone to see the pattern clearly in portrait mode).
